Let Zoom take away Your Computer Headaches

Brenda Ford knows how to get rid of your PC gloom. Brenda heads Zoom Technologies, trouble shooting computer problems over the Franklin and Papakura district, fixing problems that perplex and distress computer users.

“PC gloom is an ailment that causes lethargy and unhappiness in computer users,” says Brenda. “The symptoms of PC gloom include: speaking loudly and threatening inanimate objects like the computer, the keyboard, the mouse or the monitor; overuse of the coffee machine; using escapist strategies to limit the use of the computer; or, most serious, email blowout, indicated by spinning wildly on the office chair and stabbing at the delete button. But seriously, PC problems are very stressful because most users cannot find the solutions themselves.

“That’s where Zoom comes in. Our team can banish PC gloom by providing complete IT solutions. We aim to bring a refreshing, expert viewpoint to the computer world, arming our customers with the tools to optimize their technology and make it work more effectively for them – and taking the time to explain things in a way that the customer understands!”

Brenda, along with Chris Magon combine a wealth of knowledge in the IT business and their focus at Zoom Technologies is to clear away people’s computer problems within 48 hours of taking delivery of the machine, and provide follow up by way of free telephone support.

Brenda has a background as a regional support manager, onsite engineer, IT support specialist, PC local area network support engineer and senior accountant at both Carter Holt Harvey and Progressive enterprises.

Chris has a Bachelor of Applied Information Systems degree and 14 years experience in programming, systems support and upgrade work.

Lindon Pitt is the server specialist for Zoom Technologies.

Receptionist Korene Ford makes follow-up calls to ensure the problem has been fixed to the customer’s satisfaction. For the whole team, keeping the computer world stress-free and user-friendly is the aim.

“We all enjoy what we do and like seeing our customers happy. Chris and I are 100% confident we can rectify problems straight away.,We can fix our customers problems by remote access (controlling a computer via internet connection from a different location) or we can talk the customer through what they need to do. I would far sooner people rang us to ask what to do, rather than try to muddle through a problem by themselves. When we’ve cleaned up a machine after a virus, we leave our customer with the tools to clean their machine themselves on a regular basis Sometimes it’s a relatively simple problem and easily fixed. I receive emails from people saying things like: ‘It works! It’s easy when you know how!’

Brenda and Chris also pass on useful tips that can save a lot of expense and stress, such as turning off the computer at the power source during lightning storms, and times of potential power cuts. “People think the machine is safe if it’s shut down, but they don’t realise that even then, there is still power flow inside the PC. When the power comes back on, the surge can damage components inside the PC. It’s all about the ‘can do’ attitude at Zoom Technologies and that ensures they can deal with any computer headaches. The team supply, install and maintain desktop and laptop computers and negotiate the best deal for their customers. They do ADSL/Broadband setups, install hardware and software, do data backup and can tune up that old computer to get it working like new. Among their many satisfied customers is Franklin Hospice Charitable Trust.

By now you are probably wondering how an IT company got a name like Zoom. Brenda has a passion for classic cars. She just loves her red and white 1956 and 1957 Chevs. The ’57 is the third of that year she has owned and the car is mainly original, but the ’56 is her special toy, the one she is modifying, with its lowered front and black velour upholstery. “That’s the way I like it, jacked up in the rear end and lots of noise! I just love the 70s look.”

Brenda has been on the committee of Franklin Street Rodders for the past four years and likes nothing better than taking her Chevvy around the country on monthly club runs.

Zoom Technologies was established in March 2006 and has been run from Brenda’s home in Bycroft Ave for the last 4 years so. The latest news from Zoom Technologies is that it has just relocated – to 119 Edinburgh Street in Pukekohe and the team is expanding to include a new technician.

“All our staff are local and to us that is important – to support the local area and to establish a bond with our customers that is based on trust,” says Brenda.

Zoom Technologies can still be contacted on 09 294 6769, or after hours at 027 284 4701 or at brenda@zoomtechnologies.co.nz

I recently stretched my laptop until it decided its time was up. I enquired and was told the motherboard had failed and as a result It would no longer start. As my business as a real estate agent required access to my laptop 24/7 I purchased a new Laptop and took both to Zoom Technologies praying that they would be able to transfer all my files to the new machine.
Brenda was a delight to deal with and assured me that they would take care of my problem if it was possible.
Approx 3 hrs later I received a phone call to say that all was well and that I could collect it when I was ready.
All files where there and I have carried on again as if the problem never existed.
Well done team - you came highly recommended by Computer Food and now you come highly recommended by me
