Jet looks like butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth. But the terrible truth is that Jet is a reformed substance abuser. This 3 year old cocker spaniel had his first brushes with the dark side when just a few months old. A tube of ‘Bute,’ a painkiller for horses and a bag of Epsom salts were high on a shelf in the stables. It’s not known how pup Jet got them down. Perhaps he had a partner in crime with wings. (The goose is the top suspect.) Possibly one of the many cats sharing his home turned to a spell as a cat burglar. All Jet’s owners know for sure is that he scoffed the contents of both tube and bag – and lived. But that wasn’t the end of Jet’s debauchery. The following day, his family couldn’t find him when they returned home. There he was, still sitting in the bottom of the beer fridge with two empty cans, looking decidedly wobbly. The mystery remains about how he got into the fridge then managed to open and consume two cold ones. The vet’s advice? Sleep it off boy and don’t do it again! And he hasn’t. Possibly that’s because of the padlock on the fridge door…temptation is everywhere and you have to protect a pup from himself.
