Baker's Shoes and More

Celebrating 25 years in business!

Despite an increase in shopping malls chain stores and discount outlets, Baker's Shoes and More celebrates 25 years in business this month. "Independents source different stock to the chains and this is why people come to us - new customers are amazed at the variety and service we offer," says owner Fiona Baker.

While Baker's Shoes has been a family run business for over two decades, the shop has been in existence since 1967 and has always been a shoe shop. "The previous owner doubled the floor space by removing an inside wall between two shops, so our shop is one of the biggest independent shoe shops in the country." says Fiona.

She says one of the secrets behind her success comes down to employing the right people. "Our longest-serving staff member, Linda Davies has been with Baker's Shoes and More for 15 years" and like the rest of Fiona's team is very people focussed and has a great knowledge of footwear fitting and fashion.

As an independent business with an excellent reputation, Baker's Shoes has been the place to buy shoes for generations of local families, however Fiona is also noticing a resurgence in family footwear sales thanks to new customers moving in to the area. The team members offer an old-fashioned attention to detail. "We pride ourselves on customer service which you don't get so much in chain stores."
