Christmas around the corner.

Christmas around the corner.

It has been a busy year to date here at Tree Magic, the months have flown by and it’s definitely one of the wettest we can remember. Our company is extremely lucky to have a bunch of hardworking and positive Arborists that have a great attitude and work ethic.

As the boss, and being the guy that directs the crews and allocates the work, I am extremely proud of how my employees have stuck together to brave the tough conditions and still deliver excellent work for our client base. It is a great feeling getting the phone calls from people we have worked for giving us positive feedback about our staff and their skills.

With spring having well and truly arrived the blossoms have dispersed and the lush green buds and new leaves have appeared. With summer and Christmas just around the corner, November is a great time of year to get all your hedges and minor trimming completed. The initial spring growth starts to slow down so getting your hedges cut at this time of year means they will stay looking good for longer into the new year.

Also as we start to see longer days and the ground moisture levels start to dry out, November is a great time to get the wheelbarrow out and get stuck into spreading compost and mulch. Spread it over the root/drip line area at the base of your trees at least 100mm thick but remember to leave the area close into the main trunk clear. Mulch that is piled up against the main stem too thick can cause rot and allow bacteria to penetrate.

Mulching will keep the weeds around your trees and hedging at bay and provide a barrier against the sun and wind, ultimately holding ground moisture where it is needed most.
