Founded in 2007 right here in Franklin by Aaron and Michelle Hall, the Navigation Homes franchise has grown to cover the whole country. Now the wheel has come full circle with Aaron's son Nathan and his business partner Ryan Keegan joining Aaron in Navigation Homes Counties.
The Counties appellation is well chosen. Not only does it reflect the area in which the company operates, it also indicates the deep connection its principals feel with the district, and in particular the sport most closely identified with the name.
We're talking rugby here, of course, and Steelers supporters will have a constant reminder of that connection when they see the sponsor's name proudly emblazoned on Pukekohe's stadium – Navigation Homes Counties.
“We're delighted to have the naming rights to the stadium,” says Nathan Hall. “We're huge rugby fans and we wanted to show our commitment to the sport and the area in general.
“Navigation Homes Counties is one of the building companies involved in the Paerata Rise development, including the Wesley College land where Jonah Lomu went to school and rose to fame with Counties rugby.”
Both Nathan and Ryan are born and bred Counties locals. After spending some years overseas they've come back home and are eager to bring their considerable skills to the company.
Nathan is a qualified builder with over 10 years' experience, and is a licensed building practitioner. After managing the central city branch for Navigation Homes he moved to the Counties branch two years ago to take over the estimating role. At the start of 2017 Nathan stepped into the role of general manager, becoming a partner a few months later.
Ryan has 15 years' industry experience with Carters, the building supply merchants.
“I can't think of a better team than a builder and a merchant,” says Nathan.
“We're full of enthusiasm and can't wait to stamp our mark on the business, along with continuing to support the community. Both of us are established here, and we're really in it for the long haul. We're still going to be building houses in the Counties and north Waikato area for the next 40 years, so we want to do it well.”
Nathan backs up his confidence with the Navigation Homes guarantee of a whopping 50 years on their structural work, in addition to the Master Build 10 year warranty.
Although Nathan and Ryan know all about the building process, they realise it's foreign territory for many of their clients.
“Navigation Homes will deliver you a brand-new home that’s great to live in and matches your lifestyle. Designed around the latest smart thinking and technology, it will be supremely comfortable and full of all the features you love.
“It’s not just about comfort and convenience though. The Tomorrow Ready ® approach delivers maximum value for your budget, with flexible layouts plus the latest thinking on automation, storage and energy efficiency and much more. You’ll have a home that comes with today’s best features, and meets the ever-changing demands of tomorrow.
“Our show homes at Pokeno (30 Westmuir Crescent) and Papakura (2 Pakaraka Drive) demonstrate two of our totally different house styles. The Pokeno house is styled after a traditional bungalow, while at Papakura the show home is an ultra modern monopitch building with raked ceilings.”
“Our expertise is in project management to ensure what is required is delivered on time in full and meets quality requirements. From concept to design, working drawings, consent lodgement and the construction process we are here to ensure all boxes are ticked and completed.
“We build homes you'll love to live in – that's the company motto, and we want people to love the building process too. There are so many aspects to consider and we aim to reduce the stress as much as possible.
“Communication with our clients is number one for us, from the planning stage to completion. We have standard house plans, but for 80% of our clients that's just the beginning and we're happy to work with people to help them get what they want, something that's unique to them.
“We want our clients to tell us how to build their house – we don't tell them.
“We have a long-established history with local suppliers and excellent quality sub trades, and we only choose highly skilled, qualified, experienced and reliable subcontractors to complete our work.
“Once the build is started, keeping tabs on how things are going is easy with our NavApp smartphone tool.
“The NavApp keeps clients updated on progress 24/7. No more chasing up builders for information – the app streams photos and job logs, provides access to costs and materials, and clients can submit questions and communicate with builders in real time.
“One of the major stressors with a new build can be managing the costs while still paying rent, and we try to make things as easy as possible here too. We have finance packages available to enable renters to pay nothing more than their deposit until they move into their brand new home. With no progress payments to worry about, this enables clients to save money while they're renting.”
“We build some of the best houses around, and we're very proud of what we build.
“Navigation Homes builds homes to love, and homes to last.”
