When building a new home, one of the key decisions you will make affecting the resale value of your property is the exterior cladding. When you do come to sell, first impressions are everything to a prospective buyer, so the choice you make for the exterior look of your home can have a financial impact.
One of the exterior cladding products which is usually underrated for effect is brick. With brick you get a totally natural product that delivers texture and interest to the look of any house. One of the better things that has happened to bricks over the past few years is that they are now produced in whites, greys & blacks. Being a colour through product and available in varying sizes & finishes means bricks provide a strong statement to any home that will lasts.
An example of this is shown on our Pokeno Show Home where the colour & different laying styles of the bricks offers great contrast against the clean lines of the plastered finish. Bricks can provide the subtle effect that you never really notice unless it is pointed out to you however the look is a very effective in adding dimension & value to the home.
If you are considering brick I would recommend that you take a close look around any new building development area. This will enable you to evaluate what you like and give you the confidence that your new home will look great.
Some of the things that it pays to consider is the natural variation of the colour within the bricks and if there is contrasting or matching mortar. Also take note of the brick size and the colour of the joinery as these are all things that make a difference on the overall appearance. These are points that a lot of new home owners miss when they are deciding on what cladding to use on their new home.
Once you have decided on your choices you are ready to engage with the builder, designer or colour consultant to help bring the entire package together; helping to achieve a home that looks good & will provide a good return in any market when itβs time to sell.
If you have any doubt about what cladding to use just remember that the 3rd little pig chose brick & he is still around today.
