Papakura Athletic & Harrier Club(PAHC) recently took out two titles at the NZ Road racing championships held on the 2nd of September at Cambridge.
The Road Racing is the second half of the Harrier season(Cross-Country being the first half) with the distance run being 3000 metres for both u13 and u15 age groups for the New Zealand Championship Titles.
The NZ U/15 title went to Siobhan Balle finishing 18 seconds in front of 2nd place.
Siobhan was delighted and says, “it’s helped me prove to myself that I can do anything I set my mind on, it’s just getting over that last hurdle in my mind. “
Siobhan who is a year 10 student at Strathallan, also holds the title of Auckland Club Road Race, Auckland Secondary Schools and the Auckland Grand Prix races.
Coach James Kuegler was delighted that Siobhan Harrier season ended on such a high note.
The NZ U/15 boys title went to PAHC Luke Clements who originally hails from Whangarei but boards at Mount Albert Grammar. In his race Luke started strongly and controlled the race strategically from the start. He was in the lead bunch throughout the race. With 300m to go Luke surged into the lead and out kicked all the other athletes winning comfortably in first place.
James Kuegler said,”that Luke had always shown he had great potential and ran an excellent judged race.”
Another athlete Sophie Rob coached by James took out the under 13 girls title. Congratulations on a brilliant trifecta James Kuegler.
