Building a new home is something that comes easily to birds if not to us humans. Unlike them, we want our homes to look better than a pile of sticks and we don't want to have to rebuild them every year, so most of us prefer to hand over the job to the experts. Jennian Homes Franklin are dedicated to finding out just what each client wants in a home and bringing it to life. The team, headed by owner-operators Vincent and Michelle Costello, is packed with experience and focused on excellence. That commitment to customer service and high standards hasn't gone unnoticed. Along with the many happy occupants of Jennian homes, the wider industry has recognised the quality of the company's builds. We're thrilled to have won a silver award in the Registered Master Builders House of the Year Auckland regional competition,” says Michelle. “We've also won Best Presented Display Home within the franchise, and were Franchisee of the Year finalists.
“We're really proud of these accolades for the company, but it wouldn't have been possible without the wonderful support of our contractors and suppliers. We can rely on them to provide excellent products and services in a timely manner to help our builds go smoothly.”
The dream of building your very own new home, with your own ideas, tailor-made for your family and lifestyle, is fraught with a million decisions and likely to be one of the most costly undertakings you can make, so it's important to get everything right.
“We realise a new home build is a huge step for anyone, particularly for those who've never done it before,” says Michelle. “So to help people contemplating a new build we hold free monthly seminars to explain everything you always wanted to know but were too afraid to ask.
“We go through the whole build process, covering the benefits, what to expect, finance, everything involved in a build, and we encourage participants to feel comfortable about asking anything they like. We bring in specialists such as lawyers and bankers to detail their role. The whole aim is to demystify the new build process and try to make it less daunting for people so that they can decide if building new is for them.” Sessions last about an hour and a half, with wine and snacks provided. Unsurprisingly, they're proving very popular, and with numbers limited it's wise to book, either through the website www.jennian.co.nz or by phoning 09 238 6156.
The seminars are held in the Jennian display home at 131 Hillpark Drive in Pokeno, where attendees have an opportunity to see the latest advances in home building. “We've used 'low E' glass for improved heat retention and sound-proofing, and superior insulation throughout – even in the garage and garage door. The whole house is humidity controlled, with a SIMX Synergy Plus system sited in the roof, providing fresh, filtered air, which is great for allergy sufferers. As in all our homes, there's LED lighting throughout.
“The house is designed and situated to make the most of the sun in the living areas. The Resene plaster system, along with bricks imported from Spain, provides a leak proof cladding with heat and acoustic insulating properties.”
“It's all about getting the home you want, the way you want it,” Michelle emphasises. “We manage the whole building process to try to make things as easy as possible for our clients. We want the build to be an exciting experience, enjoyable and with minimal stress.
“We'll discuss clients' particular requirements and family situation onsite. We're willing to put the time and effort into determining what's needed, and finding a unique solution for each situation. We'll work off standard plans, revise them, design and build – whatever is best for our clients.
