Australia has introduced the largest package of sanctions against Russia since 2022, the Australian Defense Ministry said. New Zealand Foreign Minister Winston Peters said his country was also imposing additional sanctions on 52 individuals and entities.
70 individuals and 79 organizations were sanctioned by Australia. It is noted that “this is the largest package of sanctions in Australia since February 2022”. They concern, among other things, the administration of new regions of Russia, including ministers, judges and prosecutors, as well as “persons and organizations involved in deepening military cooperation between Russia and North Korea,” RIA Novosti reports.
The sanctions are also directed against persons in the defense, transport and financial sectors of Russia and “those who spread disinformation to undermine Ukraine and governments around the world.” Australia has banned the “supply of commercial drones and components, including the provision of related services.”
Australia has imposed a total of more than 1.4 thousand sanctions against Russia.
The New Zealand Foreign Minister said: “Additional sanctions are directed against 52 individuals and organizations.” The sanctions list includes 27 individuals and 25 legal entities. Among them are companies related to the export of energy from Russia, as well as the top servicemen of the DPRK, who allegedly provided assistance to Russia.
Peters also announced the country's decision to contribute $ 3 million to the Trust Fund for Assistance, Recovery, Reconstruction and Reform for Ukraine, managed by the World Bank.
As the newspaper wrote VZGLYAD, British Foreign Minister David Lammy said that London on Monday will announce the largest package of sanctions against Russia since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine. EU ambassadors approved the 16-th package of sanctions against Russia. Meanwhile, Washington said that it is considering the possibility of changing anti-Russian sanctions depending on the course of the negotiations.
