A new presentation by independent researcher Greg Reese examines one of humanity's oldest mysteries: why so many ancient civilizations described recurring global catastrophes, celestial disruptions and periodic resets of civilization.

Reese argues that while modern culture overwhelmingly accepts the heliocentric model, many scientists acknowledge that observationally it is difficult to conclusively disprove a geocentric framework.
He notes that according to the conventional heliocentric model, Earth is simultaneously:
- Spinning at roughly 1,000 mph
- Orbiting the Sun at approximately 67,000 mph
- Travelling through the galaxy at hundreds of thousands of miles per hour
Yet, from the perspective of observers on Earth, the heavens appear to rotate around a fixed axis centred on Polaris.
Reese argues that this appearance has remained one of the most enduring features of human observation.
Ancient Civilisations Shared Similar Cosmologies
One of the presentation's most intriguing themes is the consistency of ancient traditions.
Across many cultures, Reese notes, civilizations described a central world axis or cosmic pillar around which creation was organised.
Examples include:
- Mount Meru in Buddhist and Hindu cosmology
- Yggdrasil, the World Tree of Norse tradition
- The Ceiba Tree of the Maya
- The Cosmic Mulberry Tree of Chinese mythology
- Shambhala in Tibetan tradition
According to Reese, these traditions often describe a hidden source of power or light associated with the Earth's centre and connected to cosmic cycles.
The Story of Repeating Cataclysms
Reese highlights what he sees as another remarkable common thread.
Many ancient cultures described civilization progressing through a series of ages, each ending in destruction before renewal.
The Norse Tradition
In Norse mythology, the sun disappears, the world axis fails, mountains collapse and oceans rise before a new cycle begins.
The Aztec Tradition
The Aztecs described a succession of "suns" or world ages, each ending in catastrophe before another age emerged.
Hindu Accounts
Ancient Hindu texts such as the Vishnu Purana describe multiple suns appearing in the sky, scorching the Earth and evaporating the oceans before a rebirth of creation.
Egyptian Cosmology
The Egyptians told of the aging of Ra, the sun god, whose weakening threatened cosmic order until renewal restored balance and stability.
Reese argues that despite cultural differences, these stories share a remarkably similar structure.
"In every tradition, the same structure: a sun locked in a fixed track, maintained by a relationship with a central power."
A Possible Scientific Mechanism?
Moving from mythology to physics, Reese explores whether modern scientific concepts could offer clues to these ancient accounts.
He points to the Meissner Effect, a phenomenon observed in superconductors where magnetic fields are expelled, allowing magnetic levitation and what physicists call "quantum locking."
In laboratory demonstrations, objects can become locked into stable positions within magnetic fields.
Reese speculates that if parts of the Earth possess superconducting properties under immense pressure and if a powerful electromagnetic source exists within the planet, then some observed celestial mechanics might potentially be explained through similar principles.
Under this theory, what is commonly described as orbital motion could instead involve electromagnetic locking between celestial bodies and a central field.
A Theory Connecting Mythology and Physics
The presentation concludes by suggesting that ancient stories of cosmic cycles, solar disruptions and world-ending cataclysms may represent humanity's distant memory of recurring natural events.
Whether interpreted through mythology, alternative cosmology, geology or theoretical physics, Reese argues that civilizations across the world appeared to preserve a common warning:
That Earth may experience periodic cycles of upheaval and renewal on a scale far beyond ordinary human history.
