You are invited to our Street FEST

with Papakura Business Association

You are invited to our fourth StreetFEST Event on Saturday May 6th from 10am -2pm on Great South Road. This year it is being extended around into Broadway.

“We’re so excited to be holding our 4th StreetFEST, where we will once again be showcasing all the things that make Papakura great.” says Tracy Shackleton, Papakura Town Centre Manager. “It will be a whanau friendly event where we celebrate our town, our people and our cultural richness along with the amazing facilities and community assets that make this town unique. Our previous event was attended by over 7,000 people and had over 45 stalls. This year we’re aiming for 8,000 people and can take up to 60 stalls utilising Broadway!”

Our food retailers will be offering yummy specials for the day and our shops will have bargains on the day for visitors to grab. There will be plenty of entertainment too from our talented local schools and local community groups through the day so a real feast for the eyes as well as the belly! Our beloved Willie Iosia is back on board as our MC for the day. Watch out for The Big Band – part of Off Broadway Theatre, dance groups along with other local artists all weaved into an outstanding entertainment schedule for the day.

Face painting, a bouncy castle, clowns, Harold the giraffe, will be there along with other community groups like Crime watch, Youth Town, Coastguard NZ Police and Fire Service. Our very own Sustainable Papakura is involved and their wonderful monthly market ladies and stalls will be located in the library and museum entrance way.

It’s shaping up to be a fabulous day in Papakura. PAPAKURA – so much is happening. So many changes in place in the town with 44 new businesses opening up in Papakura in 2022 and already for this year we have had another 10 who have opened up in Town.

www.papakura.co.nz has undergone a refresh and Papakura now boasts 26 murals on walls and buildings around town with more in the pipeline. With mural works done by collective groups of artists from The Corner, Pascal Atiga Bridger-Wharepapa to name a few … we are looking good and colourful and bright. Check out the link below to see our murals and locations in town – and our 21 beautifully painted chorus boxes done by Papakura Schools and kindies. https://papakura.co.nz/art-trail-map-papakura/

Check out the beautiful planters full of flowers and the colourful painted bikes with flowers in the baskets. Combined with the murals and the new businesses, fairy lights on all major corners and on businesses throughout the town making it look magical at night - there is even more reason to visit.

Papakura is home to such wonderful community facilities like the Papakura Sir Edmund Hillary Library, our fabulous Museum, the Papakura Art Gallery, Massey Park Pools, the Papakura Leisure Centre, the Hawkins Theatre and the Off Broadway Theatre and our youth space at The Corner.
We are now on Instagram with #Live Papakura talking about the events, updates and happenings, fabulous pictures of the town, competitions and cool flash back pictures. And the Papakura Town Centre and Live Papakura Facebook page highlights great events, things to do and what’s happening around town every day. Feel free to like us on Instagram or Facebook.

Papakura is a town that is going places. Under the Auckland Unitary Plan, Papakura will not just be a community hub, but also a location targeted for strong business activity and growth. It is an increasingly attractive lifestyle choice with different housing options, good schooling, a modern retail environment and employment opportunities both to the North and South. All connected by the upgraded train and bus hub which makes travel easy and fast.

With over 70 options for eating in the town, national chain stores such as Noel Leeming, Number One Shoes, Liquourland, Whitcoulls, Life and Unichem Pharmacy, Stirling Sports, Farmers and Postie Plus along with the Real Estate Agencies for housing growth in our area, it’s a one stop for everything you need.

The new foodcourt and Beerspot in Broadway will be opening soon. Papakura boasts a fantastic array of outstanding restaurants such as Izu Japanese, Red Earth, Satay Noodle house who has been in Papakura for over 30 years, amazing Thai, Indian, Asian and Turkish to name but a few.

“We’d love to see you and your family and friends at our Papakura StreetFEST and be part of this day” says Tracy. “If it rains, we’ll be holding it on Saturday 13th May instead”.
