After over a decade of being affiliated with Seneca Insurance Brokers, Mark Davie and Roger McKinlay have decided to set up their own Insurance Broking Company, Acorn Insurance Management Ltd.
Mark and Roger have worked together for over 20 years and have a combined experience of over 50 years in the insurance industry with both international brokers and privately owned niche insurance brokers. As insurance brokers, who provide services to both commercial and domestic clients, Mark and Roger pride themselves on providing friendly and personable service, never forgetting that every customer they deal with is a person, not a number.
“We have seen many instances within the insurance industry where both brokers and insurance companies have not been focused on the needs of their clients and instead have just concentrated on renewing the existing insurance programme without any worthwhile review,” says Mark.
As locals with a love for their community (Mark has lived in the area for over 20 years, while Roger has strong family connections to the area), the duo are aware of the issues that their clients face both in business and privately. “There is no need to overspend on an insurance programme that does not meet their needs. Our review processes are designed to identify key areas of risk for our client’s business and match this with prudent insurance buying.”

The team is so successful that they have even managed to turn around the most reluctant of clients, with their attention to detail. On one occasion, they were introduced to a potential client who was very cynical about the insurance industry – “basically he was under the illusion that the industry was there to rip him off and would never pay any claims.” After deciding, thanks to his wife, to give the company a chance, he has now been a client for nearly ten years, during which time he has submitted a variety of claims, including some complex ones.
"These have always been settled in full by the insurers and to the client’s satisfaction. This goes back to what I have said above regarding service and ensuring that our clients have a proactive insurance programme that will meet their needs in the event of a claim," says Mark.
