Port Waikato MP Andrew Bayly has issued a “massive and heartfelt thank you” to everyone who supported him at the 2020 General Election.

Bayly says he feels honoured to have been elected as MP for the new electorate of Port Waikato and is looking forward to becoming part of its many communities.

“This will be my third term as a National Party electorate MP and I’m humbled so many people chose to support me at the election.”

For the past six years Bayly has represented the people of the Hunua electorate.

Boundary changes confirmed by the Representation Commission earlier this year saw large parts of Hunua transferred to the Papakura electorate.

The new Port Waikato electorate contains parts of the old Hunua seat such as Awhitu, Waiuku, Clarks Beach, Glenbrook, Pukekohe and Patumahoe and includes the new areas of Aka Aka, Otaua, Tuakau, Onewhero, Port Waikato, Pokeno, Mercer, Meremere, Maramarua, Te Kauwhata, Rangiriri across to Waikaretu and as far south as Te Akau.

Bayly has spent a lot of time this year travelling about the new electorate and getting to know the issues affecting its communities.

“I’ve visited every school across the electorate – bar one – and I’ve called in to meet members of every fire brigade and most local businesses. Now I look forward to meeting as many constituents as possible over the next three years.”

After what seems like a very long campaign, Bayly says he’s also ready to get back to Parliament and start work on his portfolio responsibilities.

“Already I’m at work in the electorate, talking with constituents, attending community meetings and going to the last of the school calf club days.”

People will see him out and about in their communities soon as he’s planning to continue holding his mobile constituent clinics. In the meantime, he says his electorate office is open to all constituents, regardless of political persuasion, and he and his staff “are here to help no matter what the issue is”.

“If you need guidance, assistance or support with any issue, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”

The electorate office is at 7 Wesley Street, Pukekohe. Phone 09 238 5977 during office hours.
